Jury Duty Scam

Jason Line

Throughout the country numerous people have received threatening emails and telephone calls. The scammers claim their targets have missed jury duty and use fear of prosecution in order to obtain sensitive information.

uscourts.gov wants you to know federal courts do not require you to reveal sensitive information over the phone or through email. Most contact between a federal court and potential juror will be via USPS.

If you have received a call stating that you have missed jury duty, do not give any information and you should contact the Clerk of Court’s office of the U.S. District Court in your area.
